The Bulgarian Foundation for Business and Human Rights and the Polish Institute for Human Rights and Business invite you to a free online webinar exploring the new European requirements on equal pay and pay transparency and the practical challenges businesses face in implementing them.
The event will take place on 28 October 2026, from 15:00 EEST (Sofia) / 14:00 CEST (Warsaw), online via Zoom.
What to Expect?
This 60-minute webinar will explore how pay transparency is changing the business environment, with a particular focus on the gender pay gap, equal pay and better protection of women’s rights in the workplace.
Two of the most visible dimensions of gender equality in business are women’s representation in leadership and equal, transparent pay. While women’s representation in decision-making positions remains an important part of the broader gender equality agenda, this webinar will focus primarily on pay transparency, the gender pay gap and equal pay for equal work. These issues go beyond regulatory compliance and raise important questions about fairness, business performance, talent, trust and the protection of women’s rights.
At present, only five EU Member States have fully transposed the Directive, while Bulgaria and Poland have published draft legislation but have not yet completed the transposition process. The slowdown in the transposition process affects companies and creates tensions between regulatory requirements and voluntary measures. At the same time, more companies are improving their pay practices while waiting for the legislation to become effective.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of:
- What are the European requirements for equality, non-discrimination, equal pay and pay transparency?
- What are some of the key challenges and opportunities for advancing these topics in Bulgaria and Poland?
- Why is ESG reporting expanding, and why are equality and gender-related indicators becoming increasingly common?
- What is the difference between the gender pay gap and equal pay for equal work, and how are both relevant to greater transparency?
- How can pay transparency help companies identify, explain and address gender pay differences?
- What are the legal, financial and reputational risks companies face, as well as risks related to attracting and retaining talent?
